Project 21's Council Nedd on MSNBC's "Dr. Nancy" on WednesdayProject 21 member Bishop Council Nedd II is scheduled to appear on MSNBC's "Dr. Nancy" program that airs at 12:00 PM eastern on Wednesday, December 2. Council's segment is expected to be in the second half of the program.
Council is set to discuss the religious considerations at stake with regard to the health care reform debate. For instance, the Catholic Church and observant health care professionals are seeking conscience clauses that will prevent any requirements to perform or provide coverage for abortions. Additionally, Christian Scientists are now reimbursed by some private insurers and Medicare for their religion's prayer-based care, but there is no provision for such coverage in legislation currently under consideration.
In addition to being a member of the Project 21 black leadership network, Council is a traditional Episcopal priest serving as the Bishop of the Chesapeake and Northeast for the Episcopal Missionary Church. He is also the chairman of In God We Trust, a group that seeks to stop efforts to completely separate religion from government.
